Sustainability

Quality that doesn't cost the earth.

Stone is geological — measured in millions of years. Treating it carelessly is a category error. Our approach to sustainability is the same as our approach to quality: deliberate, documented, and lived at every stage.

Our commitments

Four pillars.

01

Responsible quarry partners

We partner only with quarries that meet documented environmental and labor standards. Our Indian partners hold ISO 14001 environmental certification. Our Brazilian partners participate in the country's extractive-industry transparency program.

02

Reduced waste at extraction

Modern quarrying techniques — diamond wire saws, water recycling systems — recover up to 95% of extracted material. We prioritize partners using these methods over older, more wasteful operations.

03

Efficient transit

Container freight by sea. We consolidate shipments to reduce per-slab carbon footprint, and prefer overland rail to truck where possible for distribution within the U.S.

04

Lifetime material

Natural stone is the most sustainable building surface available — quarried once, installed once, and lasting centuries. The most eco-friendly slab is the one that's never replaced.

The case for stone

Why stone is the sustainable choice.

Compared to most engineered surfaces, natural stone has the lowest lifecycle impact of any premium countertop material. The numbers tell the story.

100+

Year typical lifespan of properly maintained natural stone — outlasts the kitchen it's installed in.

0

VOC emissions. Natural stone offgasses nothing during installation or use.

95%

Recovery rate at modern quarries — minimal waste during extraction.

100%

Recyclable. End-of-life slabs become aggregate, terrazzo, or new stone surfaces.
